Work at Home: Start a business, Affiliate Marketing, or Work for a company?

There are many benefits to working from home. In this blog I will outline a few for you. Working at home isn't for everyone. It takes dedication and self motivation to be successful in a home business. There are different types of home businesses to choose from.

1. Affiliate Marketing
2. Have your own online business
3. Work from home for another business

Affiliate Marketing is an Internet-based marketing practice in which a business rewards one or more affiliates for each visitor or customer brought about by the affiliate's marketing efforts. Try to think of it like McDonalds. If you were to buy a McDonalds today, you would have the luxury of owning a well established name and its marketing efforts. However, its up to you to drive traffic to your McDonalds as opposed to someone elses. In that respect, it is YOUR McDonalds, however, you cannot make any branding, pricing or major changes to the company.

With Affiliate Marketing, you own your site which is a replicate of another, more well established companies. Its up to you to generate traffic to your site. The more traffic usually brings more sales which in turn provides higher commissions.

Affiliate marketing is good if you have time to spend on the internet developing a client base. If you are interested in learning more about Affiliate marketing check out this site: Cash Power Course.

Having your own online business. This one is pretty self explanatory. If you have that million dollar idea, then this may be the route for you! However, sometimes start up costs may be standing in your way. You can get around those by finding someone to help fund your project. Angel Investors is a reliable source to find investors looking for the next great invention.

Remember, if you go at it alone, the profits (and losses) are yours and yours alone. You make 100% of the decisions and reap 100% of the benefits. If you decide to seek help from an investor, be prepared to answer questions concerning every aspect of your business plan: Start up costs, Overhead, Projected Return on Investment, etc. Also, if you find an investor, you will have to share your profits and you may lose an investor if your company shows continual losses. These are just some things to consider when looking at starting your own business.

Work at home for another business. Believe it or not, there ARE real work at home jobs from legitimate companies! I was surprised about this myself at first but it makes sense, why not? Some of these jobs consist of data entry, transcription, IT, software support, telemarketing, customer service, etc. If you have access to a computer than you can be working for one of these companies. If you try to search for home jobs in a search engine you will see an overwhelming amount of responses. BEWARE! Remember there are more scams out there then there are honest companies.

One website that I found, Home Job Group, is a database of legitimate work at home jobs. The company does charge a small fee for their services, but based on what you are looking for, it is as low as $15. They offer 3 memberships which provide you with different levels of service, their most expensive actually being a Job Placement Service where they assist you in finding a real work at home job.

There are other databases out there, I haven't tested them all, this is one example that I have found that filters out the scammers and "test applies" before they list a company on their database.

Those are the three most popular types of work from home. Next I will explore the benefits of working from home. If I have missed anything or you know of something worth mention that I have not, please feel free to comment.
